Lar'Akain

Lar'Akain is a Silver Shadow Cheetah, an ultra rare, virtually extinct breed of wildcats. When he was a cub he was captured by poachers after his mother and sister were shot dead. His sister was never ment to be killed, but she got caught in the cross-fire. Lar'Akain had hidden in the back of their den, but his squeals of anguish brought the poachers attention. He was captured and sold to a rich family for $10,000. The man was a drunk, and abused him mercilessly for nothing at all. All his aggressions were taken out on the poor cub. The woman never payed a lick of attention to him and he was often hungry, as she was the one who fed him. The two little boys would kick the cub around, just for fun. The daughter was the only one who was kind to the tiny cub. She cared for him and played with him and would often sneak food up to her room for him, and one day, six years later she gave him a collar, she had saved for for five years, and had spent all her money to buy it. Despite the girls' kindnesses, Lar'Akain was never happy in that house, but one day, the man threw him out after the cheetah bit him several times. Under his now-thick fur lie the scars of cruelty, and he'll never forget it.

About the Silver Shadow Cheetah: These wildcats are impossibly rare, they are not believed to be a real speicies, so no laws have come up against hunting them. They have a wide range, forests, tundra, plains, mountains, deserts, although they avoid human territory as much as they can. Their thick, down-soft pelts can easily fetch for $2,000 and the sweet, tender meat for $2,500. Live cats can sell at auction for anywhere from $10,000 to $50,000. They are a long lived species and average adult age at death is 70. There are supposedly only about 2-300 in the world.
